10 Minutes To Knowing Your Ideal Client

One of the biggest mistakes being made in the online marketing world is failing to properly define "target market" or what I like to call CharismicClient™. "Everyone" is NOT your target market. We are not meant to serve everyone. Can your products and services benefit everyone, yes. You can help a lot of people but you are not meant to serve the masses. Getting super clear on the type of person you are meant to attract and work with is crucial to having success in your business.

When we take the time to define our target market, the people who are wandering around lost, we identify with the people who need what we have. The people that our stories can help. The types of people who we can build quality relationships with in our community, who we want to surround ourselves with and work with.

An example of a poorly defined target market: I was at a networking meeting and one of the members of the group stood up to share her business. She is with a popular skin care/makeup company. She said "My ideal client is anyone with skin". Now while her products can help anyone with skin, SHE is not meant to help anyone with skin. It also does not help me or anyone else in the room to give her a proper referral. I know a lot of people with skin but but WHY should I refer them to HER? What problem is she solving for people??

It would be much more effective for her to say "I love showing busy moms how to get out the door faster in the mornings looking like a million bucks with a 6 minute makeup routine". Now who doesn't want to 1. get out the door faster in the mornings and 2. look like a million bucks? This is clearly conveying the type of person she loves to help, how she loves to help them and the problem that she solves.

OR "I love to show women how to wind down in the evenings with a spa like beauty routine that will leave them feeling and looking younger". Who doesn't want to 1. have a spa like evening wind down and 2. look younger? This clearly describes the type of person she loves to help and the problem that she can help them solve.

Here is a graphic that I created to help you identify your CharismicClient™ in 10 minutes.

When you know the type of person you want to help and the problems that you solve, now you can use your story and create content that speaks DIRECTLY to the person you want to attract. She will see your posts, will feel drawn in and inspired. She will want to connect with you more. She will see you as someone who feels her pain. She will see you as the person who has the solution. The person that can help her. You won't need to chase prospects, they will come to YOU and you will have cracked the code on attraction marketing.

Was this helpful in getting to know your ideal client better {be sure to pin it to a business tip board on Pinterest so you can easily reference it later}. Would love to hear your thoughts so be sure to leave a quick comment. If you know a creative woman in business who would find this valuable I would be so honored for you to share these tips with her. xo
